What can I say other than the referee was the worst Ive ever seen in my life, diabolical, no other word for it. I was quite confident on 3 point beforehand with the great win in midweek against Crawley Town but credit to Scunthorpe they had and stuck to their game plan and we were simply poor, but the referee and one of his a sistants should never officiate again, dreadful. On to the football side, Mark Robins named a unchanged side from the midweek win with Coventry hoping for more of the same in front of a lot of armed service personnel due to Remembrance Sunday tomorrow, City looked for inspiration through on loan top goal scorer David McGoldrick but the side https://www.chargersedge.com/khalil-mack-jerseys never started the game well with the away side dominating the early pre sure. Both Karl Hawley and Leon Clarke had efforts saved comfortably by Joe Murphy in a first 15 minutes where Scunthorpe dominated. Coventry came to life after the early pre sure as a number of blocked shots fell to captain Carl Baker just outside the box who hit a thunderous low show which hit the post I thought, could be wrong. The away side brought out a great save from keeper Murphy as Hawley again curled a great shot with the Irishman parrying it away. The next chance went the other way as McGoldrick hit a dipping shot but it was no trouble for Irons keeper Steve Mildenhall who was their man of the match at the end of the game in my opinion. He could not do anything to keep out Carl Bakers low free kick just after the half hour mark as some neat play through David McGoldrick and Cody McDonald brought a foul just outside the box. My friend said to me this is going straight in the bottom right corner and he was right! https://www.chargersedge.com/gerald-everett-jerseys The strike was identical to the one he scored against Bury earlier in the season if I remember correctly. I was unfortunately made to feel very angry after that for the rest of the game due to blind officials, a long ball seemed to of been no trouble for Richard Wood but he was judged to of brought down Leon Clarke in the box, thought it was the other way around for me, never a penalty in a million years. Clarke stepped up in front a stadium full of boos and slotted home with ease celebrating in front of the home fans which showed why he was not to be liked by the end of the game. The last chance of the half came from another set piece with Carl https://www.chargersedge.com/dustin-hopkins-jerseys Bakers cracking free kick having to send Mildenhall into a great parried save. Half tame whistle blew with the match officials leaving with a hostile reception from the home support. On to the second half and the home side started off the same as the first half through sitting back letting Scunthorpe have all the po se sion which led to countle s chances through a Jimmy Ryan shot just blazing wide and Clarke again was left to head a free header but it was straight at Murphy, he should of scored. If he should of scored then on fire McGoldrick definitely should of, Baker picked up a loose ball and he played in the striker who smashed it straight at the Mildenhall in the Irons goal and it was cleared away, should of put it acro s him! The striker was made to feel the pain as on 75 minutes Leon Clarke was played through and he slipped it past Murphy into the bottom https://www.chargersedge.com/charlie-joiner-jerseys left corner and ran off to celebrate in front of the 350+ away support on a night which attracted just under 10000 fans to the Ricoh Arena. The fact of the unpopularity of Clarke from the home fans came as he took his time coming back from his celebration. They shut up shop after that letting the home team bombard them with chance after chance. The home side thought they should have had a penalty with Cyrus Christie being brought down by Tom Newey, which was a stone cold penalty in my book bit it was waved away and to the youngsters frustrations he was booked for di sent. Coventry tried to change the game with bringing on Callum Ball, Franc Mou sa and forgotten man Roy ODonovan all coming on. It was keeper Mildenhall who was to be the hero of the hour as great saves from Ball and Baker who volley pulled out a good stop by the keeper, at the death Mildenhall did well to stop a great strike from ODonovan with the loose ball not going McGoldricks way to grab another goal. The game and chances went begging for the skyblues who dropped to 20th just outside the bottom 3, should really of taking action of winning it but it was not to be. Credit https://www.chargersedge.com/ty-long-jerseys to Scunthorpe they played well, even if they went down easily. On to a seen to be win at rock bottom club Hartlepool United Saturday! PUSB
