In the latest trailer for Ryū Ga Gotoku Studio's feudal Yakuza spin-off Like A Dragon: Ishin, you get to see Kiryu slash, punch, and gun his way through much of historical Japan. Our boy dishes out the heat in the gnarliest of ways, but it all culminates with the "Wild Dancer" fighting style which turns Kiryu into a spinning top of death.

During Ishin's original release, the Like a Dragon series was continuing to build upon on its third-person action combat. These two spin-offs games, Like a Dragon: Ishin and its predecessor Like a Dragon: Kenzan, introduced a combat system with multiple fighting styles, which would go on to refined further in games down the road like Yakuza 0 and the Judgment subseries. This new trailer for Ishin focuses on the primary fighting styles that players will be accustomed to in this game, along with some of the over-the-top combat options.

The publisher says the video teaser "shows the new combat styles and diverse weaponry" and gives you a chance to see "the brilliant swordman Sakamoto Ryoma defeat enemies with his samurai sword and trusty gun, using various combat styles including Gunman Style, Wild Dancer Style, Brawler Style, and more".

Like A Dragon: Ishin's combat looks wild and I can't wait to give it a whirl come 21st February 2023. Now I just need a trailer which highlights the game's minigames and substories. I'm really hoping there's some feudal real estate mini-game where you flip ancient shrines or belt out some Baka Mitai to the twangs of a koto. If it does well, RGG Studio said they'd consider another samurai-period remake too, which is fantastic news.
