The Yankees got the win over the White Sox by a score of 5-3 after things got interesting in the ninth inning. It never good to see your home team lose a series on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, but hey, at least we saw Justin Fields and Tim Anderson interact before the game. Game recognize game. Chicago White Sox August 15 Micker Adolfo Jersey, 2021From one face of Chicago to another. Lucas Giolito was on the mound to start the game, and got into trouble right from the jump after back-to-back walks to Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge. Luckily, he was able to then record back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat and the inning. Nestor Cortes was on the mound for the Yankees, who also saw himself in first inning trouble. With two outs, Jos Abreu and Eloy Jimnez hit back-to-back singles to give Andrew Vaughn a scoring chance Eloy Jimenez Jersey, but he was unable to produce. In the top of the second inning, Giolito allowed a single to Luke Voit, followed by a home run by Rougned Odor to make it 2-0 as the Bronx Bombers got on the board early. After a single by DJ LeMahieu, Gardner doubled, and LeMahieu scored due to an error by Csar Hernndez to extend the lead to 3-0. Danny Mendick singled in the bottom of the inning, but the White Sox could not build on that.Giolito and Cortes both threw scoreless third and fourth innings despite allowing runners on base. Due to a high pitch count already, Giolito was taken out of the ballgame in the top of the fifth inning and replaced by Ryan Tepera. Giolito didn have the best outing, as he went four innings with six hits, three runs, and three walks. He did strike out eight batters though, which is impressive for just four innings.Tepera allowed a leadoff walk and another base runner on a strikeout due to a passed ball by Seby Zavala, but that would be it. Cortes continued to roll, pitching a 1-2-3 bottom of the fifth. Jos Ruiz had a clean sixth inning after being replaced by Tepera. Although the bats had been quiet thus far for the South Siders, Andrew Vaughn came through in the bottom of the sixth with a home run to make the game interesting at 3-1. Ruiz started the top of the seventh inning, but was replaced by Aaron Bummer after a leadoff walk to Giancarlo Stanton, and a strikeout to Luke Voit. Bummer, who has been great recently, struck out the next two Yankees to end the inning. Cortes was replaced by Stephen Ridings to start the bottom of the seventh inning. Cortes had a great outing going six innings with seven hits, one run, and seven strikeouts. Jake Lamb came in to pinch-hit for Danny Mendick, as he drew a walk to start the inning. Zack Collins also pinch-hit for Zavala, but struck out. Tim Anderson grounded into a double play to end the inning. The frustrations continue with the team having multiple scoring chances, but not being able to produce. Bummer pitched a scoreless top of the eighth, as Ridings continued the bottom of the inning, this time allowing another leadoff walk to Hernndez. He was then replaced by Jonathan Loaisiga Yoan Moncada Jersey. After a strikeout by Jimnez, manager Tony La Russa was ejected arguing a questionable call. Things only seemed to go downhill from there, as Matt Foster came in the ball game and allowed a two-run home run to Luke Voit to extend the Yankees lead to 5-1. With Lucas Luetge in the game to close it out in the ninth inning Cesar Hernandez Jersey, the South Siders put up a fight from the jump, starting with a walk by Yon Moncada and a single by Luis Robert. Collins came up big with an RBI double to make it 5-2, which made things interesting with runners on second and third. Luetge would leave the game, and Wandy Peralta would come in.Due to great speed and base running by Anderson, he hit an infield single to score Robert and made it 5-3. With runners on the corners, Hernndez grounded into a double play to end the rally, and the game. Overall, there were many frustrations from today. The bullpen was solid for the most part, but the offense couldn come through with RISP. There were a few calls early on that should have been challenged that weren, which could have changed the game down the stretch. Dropping a series like this at home wasn ideal, but now the focus is on the upcoming schedule and hard opponents. The team will open up a four-game set at home tomorrow against the Oakland Athletics, and Dallas Keuchel and Frankie Montas will go head-to-head on the mound at 7:10 p.m. Central. It would be nice to get some revenge on the team that knocked us out of the playoffs last year, so let hope that the bats will come alive and the pitching will be solid. New week, new series, and a new opportunity for a win!
